Health and Safety

Today we started with Health and Safety.  Piet Gouws was the coarse leader.
 He gave us some tips on safety and what to do in situations...

* always make notes

* if someone ask you questions - Just answer them!!

* Provide Safety

* identify HAZARDS !!! 

We practiced our song... We're getting there.

Interviews!!!!!!!

 wow was very stressful but at the end of the day is wasn't so bad!

It was professional but not to stiff!!!

First working weekend (11 - 13 February 2011)

Friday:  I helped with the welcoming F&B.  I served wine, juice and pancakes to the arriving guests.  

Saturday:  I helped out at Sondela Share Blocks where I  learned how to iron pillowcases, sheets and duvet covers.  I was quite interesting, but very, very warm.

Sunday:  I helped at Reception.  I interacted with some guests, and I also talked over the hand radio and answered the telephone.

This weekend was a very good experience and I can't wait for the next one.

Third Week (7 - 11 February 2011) - WOP Course

This week we learned about the fundamentals of Hospitality.  Subjects that we discussed included layout of organizations, how to maintain a safe and secure working environment, safe food preparation, maintaining personal hygiene, customer service, processing incoming and outgoing telephone calls and verbal as well as non-verbal communication. 

Second Week (31 January - 4 February 2011) - WOP Course

During our second week we did our First Aid Level One and Basic Fire Fighting Courses.  The First Aid course was very interesting and I really enjoyed it.  We learned about CPR, how to help a choking victim, how to treat wounds, what to do when someone has a heart attack and what to do when someone has an epileptic fit.  

The Fire Prevention course was also very interesting.  I enjoyed learning about the different fires and ways to extinguish them.  Never turn your back on a fire!

First Week (24 - 28 January 2011) - WOP Course

During the first week we got to know all our fellow students.  We learned about Sondela's history and went on a game drive.  During the game drive Klaas told and showed us all the different departments on the farm.
