21 March - 24 March

I worked in the Main kitchen the whole week...
Started everyday with mise-en-place..
Most of the time me and Chef William were working together.
He gives me tasks to do to improve myself.

He and Chef Steve from the Guest house showed me how to cut a chicken into pieces. I then had to cut one myself.

I made chicken kebabs and skons for a conference...

WOWOWOWOW I did a Dem0 with Chef William... Now that was something!!!
I enjoyed it so much !!!

In the Training kitchen we made marshmallow truffle and Pavlova!!!! Very Very nice !!! :)

14 March - 20 March 2011

Monday 14
I were in the training kitchen.
Did spinning potatoes. Had a task about potatoes to do...
I also learned some knife skills.

Tuesday 15
Worked with potatoes again!!!
This time I made potato nests and chips.
Worked on the pc aswell

Wednesday 16
HOSTEX !!!!!!
Wow that was so cool. There were so much equipment, food, drinks ect...
You really didn't know where to look at and go to.
I bought Balsamic vinegar and got 8 free nestle coffees.
I really enjoyed it.
There was so much to buy... Believe me if my pockets were overflowing with money that place would have had nothing left. 


Thursday 17
Training kitchen.
Today I started my day with making a Fresh fruit salad for the WLC breakfast.
I made sandwiches for the students and cresh.
I also worked in the cold kitchen were I had to make toasted sandwiches.
Learned the types of eggs and how to prepare each.

Friday 18
Started at 07:00 and worked till 19:30.
Main kitchen is HARD work, but I enjoy it very much.
I worked in the cold kitchen and helped were I could with orders.

Sunday 20
MOSELESELE !!!
I started at 07:00 till 11:00- Me and Chef David made breakfast for the guests.
We made mince, eggs, pancakes, flapjacks and chicken stir fry.


We started at 17:00 and finished at 21:00.
We made them dinner. Pap, salad, sweet mielies. And I made a tomato, onion and mushroom sauce with some cream. We prepared the braaivleis.



I enjoyed my week...

28 January - 13 March 2011 FOOD AND BEVERAGE.

FOOD AND BEVERAGE
WOW this was the best 3 weeks ever.  Being able to do so much in one section is incredible!
I have learned so much! I worked a lot in the Coffee Station and did all the issuing in morning, you have to do it in the morning so that the stuff needed during the day is avalible so that you don't need to run up and down to get everything done!

THERE were functions during our time being there. MEANING: We had to do the preporations for every function. It was very very stressful but we did it! We were a great team working together! Everyone helped were they could. Inbetween the functions I had to waiter but it was so much fun. I love working with people and serving them. SMILE !!!!!

WILDLIFE centre breakfasts!!! wow now that is something I lOVE to do! Eating with wild/tame animals around you is so cool, it's an experience you can't explain !!!! Matilda the giraffe, Cheecky the zebra and even Porky the warthog gives you pleasure and convinces you to come again....

Weekends!!!! Well every second weekend I'm off... But when I'm working I enjoy it A LOT !!
I gain so much experience on weekends. I meet new people and learn new things.

COCTAIL bar!! Now that sounds nice!! Well it is. I learned how to make coctails, how the computer system works ect. Tequila sunrise is my specialty !!!

Welcoming!!!!! Every Friday and Monday... I usaully work at the pancake stand and welcome the people there with a pancake, juice or wine to taste. I tell them whats happening on the farm for the weekend and week...

Meanwhile all off this was happening I had to organize our 1ste years Meet the Managers Function...
Sjoe!!! It was difficult but at the end of the day it was a big success!!!
We gave prizes for the best dressed persone.

En weereens begin nog 'n week... Week vol lag en drama, okay wel kom ons los die drama deel hehe
ek moet sĂȘ ons kry darem nie die drama deel nie...

Wel soos enige Maandag by ons begin = check-ins...
MY werk was om die tasse kamers toe te dra en die 'welcoming' snack en drink te maak..
Deur die loop vanj die dag het ek maar skoongemaak en die aand het ek die 'turndown' gedoen..

Breakfast set up gedoen vir 2 mense maar 7 tafels gedek--hectic-- maar nou ja dink net hoe sal dit lyk as jy in 'n vertrek instap met 7 tafels en slags 2 is gedek???????? So gedink,,, gaan nie werk nie !!!!!
Op geset vir ontbyt vir die volgende oggend.
